It seems these days we have been uncovering (and covering) more and more 16-inch folding e-bikes. The Axon Pro Max 16 needs to be added to our Ultimate 16-Inch Wheel Folding E-Bike Roundup.
Founded by Farhad a professional IT Manager and later a sales executive moved into the electric e-bike space to help create a cleaner, safer environment.
Axon Rides offers a full lineup of folding e-bikes. While all eight models (from Pro Lite to Pro Max) share the same folding frame the specs differ to accommodate a range of pricing.
We will focus our comments on their highest-end model – the Axon Pro Max.
Axon Pro Max First Impressions
The Axon Pro Max is built on a folding frame with a minimalistic design. This frame is similar to the crowdfunded OXFO OX1.
The Axon Pro Max uses 305mm sized 16-inch wheels. While 305mm wheels (as compared to 349mm) are smaller it can take some time getting used to when riding. These wheels are more similar in size to a Strida than a Brompton.
The Axon Pro Max is powered by a 36V 7 Ah seat post battery and a 250W rear hub motor. As with all UK e-bikes, they have a capped speed capability of 15.5 m.p.h. The Pro Max does have a thumb throttle and on the FB21 models, Axon Rides added a twist throttle (which comes with the appropriate UK warnings).
The Axon Pro Max has upgraded hydraulic disc brakes to better stopping power. Some of the lower models have mechanical disc brakes which are more than adequate at 16 miler per hour.

Surprisingly the Pro Max is only a single-speed but added a torque sensor that activates upon pedal pressure. This is a nice upgraded feature for a single-speed e-bike.
Axon Pro Max Conclusion
Overall the Axon Pro Max is a neat little folding e-bike. With integrated lights, an electronic horn, custom mudflaps, and a 250W motor with a torque sensor this is a full-featured folding e-bike.
The Pro Max is fairly light for an e-bike and does have a small folded dimension but may be difficult for some people to carry around. Hopefully, a carrying bag is in the works. The magnetic hubs are cleverly designed to keep the e-bike folded together.
We do wish Axon Rides offered a model with gears. If you get the gearing correct you can enjoy pedaling these smaller wheeled folding e-bikes.
We would be pressed to see a rider over six feet tall on this e-bike but we will just go with the Axon Riders max height.
The Axon Pro Max is not without local competition from the MiRider One GB3, Brompton Electric C Line, and the newly designed Flit M2.
