Swagtron is a company that has been around for a number of years. They call themselves mobility innovators in that they add their own “swag” (slang word for stylish confidence) into “e”-rideables.
At one point the company was up for sale but whatever the past issues were they have been moving forward with a full lineup of Swagtron branded: e-bikes, hoverboards, skateboards, and scooters.
As for e-bikes, Swagtron offers a variety of folding e-bike configurations based on 16-inch wheels. They are definitely marketing these mini folding e-bikes toward commuter/campus riders.
The Swagtron EB7 Plus is one of their more popular products and has caught the attention of many e-bike commuter enthusiasts.
“The Swagtron EB-7 Plus folding electric bike combines the convenience of a compact, easy-to-store design with the power of an electric motor, providing a flexible, eco-friendly, and efficient way to navigate urban environments and beyond.”

The Swagtron EB7 Plus is a 16-inch wheel folding e-bike that has a number of features that make it stand out from other e-bikes on the market. We will go over the pros and cons of this e-bike in detail to help you decide if it’s the right fit for you.
Pros of the Swagtron EB7 Plus
Firstly, let’s talk about the pros of the Swagtron EB7 Plus. One of the most significant advantages of this bike is its portability. The bike can be easily folded down to a compact size, making it easy to store and transport.
Folding Wheels Tip: If your folding bike does not come with magnet buckles to secure the wheels in the folded position then carry a strap (or bungee cord) to keep the bike together while moving around.
Additionally, the bike features a removable battery (requires key for removal) that can be charged separately, allowing you to keep a spare battery on hand for longer rides.
The Swagtron EB7 Plus also comes with a seven-speed Shimano gear system. It is quite apparent that the gear ratios were more of a side thought for this e-bike. If you plan on doing a fair amount of pedaling we highly recommend that the front sprocket is upgraded to a 56T or 58T. With the current gearing setup, you would probably max out your pedaling speed at around 12 m.p.h. before hitting that “hamster wheel effect.”

The Swagtron EB7 Plus has a 350W motor that can reach speeds of up to 18.6 mph, making it a great option for commuting and shorter leisurely rides. Keep in mind the EB7 Plus does not have pedal assist so you will hit each max speed listed below once you start pedaling and the motor is activated.
The three ride modes each max out to the following speeds:
- Mode 1 – 11 m.p.h.
- Mode 2 – 13 m.p.h.
- Mode 3 – Up to 18.6 m.p.h.
If you plan on riding the Swagtron EB7 Plus with throttle only then the battery will average approximately 15.5 miles. If you add some pedaling and ride in the eco mode you should be able to reach 20 miles on a single charge. Charge time averages 3-4 hours.
An integrated front headlight is an additional bonus.
Cons of the Swagtron EB7 Plus
As with most e-bikes, there are also cons to the Swagtron EB7 Plus. One of the most common complaints from users is the folding e-bike’s weight. While the bike is designed to be portable, it still weighs around 42 lbs, which can be cumbersome to move even in the folded position.

Gears. As mentioned above the Swagtron EB7 Plus offers a Shimano 7-speeds which is a step up from their single-speed Elite model, however, the gearing ratio needs to be improved. A simple upgrade to a larger front sprocket will really make the EB7 Plus a winner.
Lastly, is sizing. The Swagtron EB7 Plus as with most 16-inch wheel folding bikes tends to have smaller frames. This can make the rider feel a little cramped but that is a trade-off for smaller wheeled bikes. The Swagtron EB7 Plus does offer an adjustable seat and handlebars that can accommodate riders of different heights but only up to 5’10” feet. If you are taller you will need to invest a few extra dollars for a longer seat post.
Swagtron EB7 Plus Mini Folding Electric Bike: Conclusion
Overall, if you’re in the market for a 16-inch folding bike, the Swagtron EB7 Plus is an excellent option to consider. With its powerful motor, comfortable rear suspension ride, and compact design, this bike is perfect for urban commuters who want to combine the convenience of a bike with the flexibility of public transportation or limited storage space.
